Mangroves are a network of trees that live in brackish, coastal intertidal zones. Not only do their dense, entangled root system prevent coastal erosion, they also provide a nursery for fisheries and habitat for local bird populations.
Mangroves are one of the largest sources of carbon drawdown, sequestering 50 times more carbon than a terrestrial forest of trees. Their ability to collect and store large amounts of carbon is a significant solution to the fight against climate change since the beginning of the industrial world.
Mangroves are among the most productive and biologically complex ecosystems on Earth, this NFT artwork is focused on the promotion of mangrove planting in order to restore the environment and its ecosystem.
"This is a modern day NFT created with 30 year old hardware that engages the viewer to consider: If we had known then what we know now, what would the world look like? In order to make the largest impact on restoring the environment, we need to make major changes today. It's not too late."
